New to Vaping? Know These Frequently Used Terms

I am Damian Clark. The lifestyle of someone who loves smoking can be tricky due to the restrictions on where you can smoke and the cigarette odor that is produced. I know a lot of people who love to smoke, but hate these inconveniences. They would love e-cigarettes, but simply do not understand what they are and do not understand the benefits of them. There is still a lack of education on this product and because of the ways that this product can improve one's life, I have decided to create a blog where I'll do everything I can to educate others on e-cigs.

If you are brand new to vaping, you may feel a bit confused about a lot of the terms that are used by those that are more experienced than you. Here are a few key terms that you should know as you get started.

E-Juice

The liquid that you put into your vaping device goes by a few names, but e-juice or e-liquid are two of the most common ones. This liquid contains the nicotine and flavoring that you are vaping, along with propylene glycol and vegetable glycerin.

ADV and Vaper's Tongue

ADV is an abbreviation for an all-day vape. It is typically used to describe a type of e-juice that a person enjoys enough that they can consume it all day long. If someone has overused the same e-juice and has gotten used to it, they may form "vaper's tongue." This is when a person can't taste the e-juice anymore or it doesn't seem as strong. A common solution is to brush your tongue or change up the flavor of e-juice that you use.

Atomizer, Coil, and Wick

Every vaping device will have an atomizer. This is the part that will heat up when the vaping device is turned on, which then turns the e-juice in the device into a vapor that you inhale. An important part of the atomizer is the coil. It's a wire that is wrapped into the shape of a coil, and allows electrical current to flow through it and heat up your e-juice.

The vaping device's wick is the part of the atomizer that will absorb the e-juice in the device, which brings the juice to the coil so that it can be vaporized. The wick is typically made out of an organic cotton material, but wicks are also made out of materials like nylon as well.

Tank and Dripper

There is a style of atomizer that is known as a tank, which holds all of the e-liquid so that it can flow to the vaporizer's coil. A dripper is another type of atomizer, and it works differently since it frequently drips e-juice onto the coil. Your vaping device will likely use one of these two styles of atomizers.

Battery

Every vaping device is going to require a battery, which is how the device receives power to vaporize the e-juice. Entry-level vaping devices will have the battery built into the device and be non-removable. More advanced vaping devices will have a removable battery that can be swapped out.
